A good number of Kenyan have expressed their concerns about what Atwoli did to the President during the labour day celebration at Uhuru park Monday.
To many, the president being the topmost man in the country need to be treated and accorded respect by all whether young or old. Some people feel that Atwoli missed the mark when he greeted President Uhuru while sitting.
“I really like and admires Francis Atwoli but today he disappointed me for failing to show respect to his excellency the president of Kenya, by greeting him while seated, I was watching TV live, and my 14 years old son asked me, is that in order and replied maybe Atwoli is not feeling well. The upcoming generation is watching us and eager to learn from us. Let's all be good teachers to them,” said Stephen Moipei.
A lot of people reacted differently on social media with saying it was not necessary for Atwoli to stand for the president while other felt that at least he should have done so to show some respect.
“Age matters a lot then your post...so if you become the president, will you greet your dad while sitting just because you are the president? try that and see how many hours you will leave just after the incident....Atwoli to respect because of age,” argued Philip Mweli.
For me, I feel that that was just an oversight and not really a sign of disrespect.Atwoli maybe didn’t remember to stand because of serious issues that he was going to address and at the same time tell the president.

Meanwhile, Emily Aima felt that standing was not a big deal and it had nothing to do with the rate of inflation in Kenya.
"You mean if he stood up to greet him the price if unga would have gone down to Sh80? Atwoli is an elderly man who has worked tirelessly for this country. Let him nurse his back,” said Aima
