Devolution is the biggest achievement of the 2010
Constitution. The process has seen the extension of resources and power from
the center to the periphery.
Prior to the enactment of the 2010 Constitution, all
decisions were made in the capital city of Nairobi. The Constitution has
entrusted the grassroots with the power to decide on the projects as per local
priorities.
Since the devolved system came into existence, a lot has
happened on the socio-economic front. Infrastructure development, agriculture,
and trade have realized tremendous improvements.
Areas that were impassable are now accessible courtesy of
devolution. Access roads across the country are passable. The net result is
better connectivity, which is good for the economy.
