A woman has been arrested in Trans-Nzoia County for reportedly chaining and torturing her eight-year old daughter over Sh50.
The woman, 30, tied the daughter and scalded her body using a red-hot spoon to teach her a lesson for stealing the money. Motosiet area chief Patrick Bosire confirmed he had arrested the woman and handed her over to officers at Kachibora Police Station.
He said the neighbours were alarmed by the screams from the woman’s house and rushed there to find the girl in so much pain.

The girl, who suffered 30 per cent burns, was rushed to the nearby Motosiet dispensary for treatment. “She is in stable condition. I want to warn parents against such inhuman acts,” said the administrator.
Mr Bosire warned residents against using unlawful means to discipline their children, saying those caught would be prosecuted.
He said no parent has a right to torture his or her children, arguing the law prohibits such acts.
