Suspicious suitcase in church causes panic

Taita Taveta, Kenya: Panic gripped worshippers at a church in Taita Taveta County Friday after a suspicious suitcase was found abandoned in the church compound.

The discovery of the lone suitcase at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Voi town, caused fear among hundreds of women who were attending a seminar.

Bomb disposal experts were deployed at the scene and immediately cordoned off the compound. Luckily, the experts discovered that the parcel did not contain explosives.

Voi Officer Commanding Police Division Joshua Lutukai, said they have launched investigations into the matter.

"We want to know who left the bag at the church compound," he said.

The jubilant women later trooped back to the church after police assured them of their security.
