Nyeri, Kenya: A three-week-old baby was Thursday found abandoned near the offices of a courier services company in Nyeri.
The baby boy was wrapped in a window's curtain material and inside the wrappings was a tag bearing the name of the man alleged to be his biological father.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that the father could have neglected the child prompting the mother to bring it to him," said Police Inspector Lydia Macharia, hours after the baby was discovered.
Ms Macharia said that they had established the "father" and had summoned him to help with investigations.
The alleged father denied prior knowledge of the child's existence but promised to take care of him.
