Kisumu County Government will recruit Metro policemen and women to boost security of county leaders. It says the move will create jobs for hundreds of youths.

It follows a report by the county assembly’s Budget and Appropriation and Delegated County Legislation committees that recommended the drafting of a law for recruitment of the Metro Police to battle insecurity.

“The Assembly should come up with a Metropolitan Bill, where only youths who are disciplined, trustworthy and tested will be recruited,” read the reports. Other than the Metro Police, the MCAs will be free to own guns and have bodyguards.
