A woman has been charged before a Nyeri Court for allegedly stealing quail chicks valued at Sh 26,000.

Ms Margret Wambui was accused of obtaining the 75 chicks from a farmer by pretending she was buying them on credit.

Ms Wambui allegedly fraudulently obtained the quails from Mr Martin Muchiri in  Kiganjo location, Nyeri County.

She denied the charges before Nyeri chief magistrate Wilbroda Juma.

Ms Wambui asked the court to provide her with copies of the witness statements so that she could prepare her defense ahead of the trial.

She was released on a cash bail of Sh30, 000 or a bond of Sh50, 000 with a surety pending the mention of the case on February 10, and subsequent hearing on February 20 this year.
