Bungoma High School and Kaya Tiwi are the national secondary schools champions in rugby 15s and girls basketball, respectively.
Bungoma beat Moi Sirgoi 19-6 in the finals played yesterday at Friends School Kamusinga to be crowned the new kings of schools rugby.
Kaya Tiwi ascended the throne of basketball after edging out two-time national winners Buruburu 53-25.
Upper Hill reclaimed their lost basketball glory with a resounding 80-24 conquest over Alliance High School in the boys’ encounter.
Bungoma captain Antony Otindo said that after getting six-time national champions Kakamega out of the way, they knew they would win the title.

“We were confident that the job was already done against Kakamega and all we needed was to confirm the scores on pitch,” Otindo said.
Eric Otieno was the lead scorer for Bungoma with nine points from three penalties.
Sirgoi captain Derrick Akwona said that finishing second was an achievement as they had beaten big names on their way to the finals in addition to qualifying for East Africa games.
Kakamega beat Upper Hill 19-11 in third place play-offs to earn their place at the regional games.
Kaya Tiwi had an easy time with Buruburu as they beat them for the second time having triumphed in their opening group A match.
The champions snatched the first quarter 14-5 to take an early lead.
The second was no different as they eased to a 12-5 win giving them a 26-10 lead at halftime. They went ahead to take the third quarter 14-8 and the fourth 13-7 and with it came their historical maiden title.
Upper Hill achieved their objective of reclaiming their national title as they made light work of Alliance to win their third national trophy.
Kapenguria beat Aga Khan 62-40 while Barchando beat Loreto 57-42 in boys and girls basketball third place playoffs.
