The entertainment world is grieving the death of Ghetto Radio presenter and Cobra Squad actress Angel Wainaina, who perished in the Nakumatt inferno. At the weekend, leading FM stations were jammed with calls from celebrities and Angel’s fans.

Many radio music programmes paid tribute to her. Mourning Angel, executive producer of Cobra Squad, Victor Muniafu, regretted her death saying the entire crew has lost a committed and straightforward performer. "She was polite. We talked on the telephone last week, she was inquiring when we will be resuming the scripting and acting," Muniafu remembers.

Mwafrika, her colleague at Ghetto FM, said they will miss Angel’s polite and sassy voice. The young talented girl was a fast rising star and had become popular out of her active role in the local TV series, Cobra Squad, where she acted as Sergeant Maria.

She was a leading presenter at Ghetto Radio. Many could not help but remember her last public appearance at Carnivore the weekend before her demise. And the Pulse Magazine team received the news on Friday morning with shock after learning that Angel, who had appeared in the magazine’s Caught Out page, was no more.

"It’s sad news and a big blow to the entire entertainment world and we can only pray God will comfort her family, friends and fans," said Mwafrika.

Angel’s body, which was charred beyond recognition was identified through few leads especially the top and the belt she wore on the fateful day.

Her family led by her father and auntie who only identified herself as Esther transferred her body from City Mortuary to Lee Funeral home on Saturday. Angel’s father who was at the mortuary was in grief and could not talk to us.

The star was among close to 30 people who died on the fateful Wednesday. As we give our sincere condolences to Angel’s family and the entire showbiz fraternity, we ask our readers to get an exclusive interview on the departed celeb in this week’s Pulse Magazine.
