As she gets ready for the Olympics trials and having failed to take part in the National Boxing League last season, national middleweight champion Elizabeth Akinyi is now ready for the two events.
The Olympic selection trials will be held at Charter Hall in Nairobi from June 29 to July 1 while the league championships are set for September.
Interestingly, unfortunate circumstances made her to skip the league championships last year but she featured in a number of international championships.
"Last season, I faced a number of challenges that could not allow me take part in the league championships but this time, I'm ready for it all and in a number of international championships," she told Standard Sports.
At the league level, she has been boxing for Nairobi's Kentract Boxing Club.
As she missed the league championships, Akinyi went on to take part in a number of international championships, which included Africa Zone Three Boxing Championships in Democratic Republic of Congo and World Boxing Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
This year she also featured in the World Women Boxing Championships in New Delhi, India, in March indicating her readiness to take part in more international events again.
