The battle for the 2022-2023 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title continues today as record champions Gor Mahia, defending champions Tusker and dark horses Nzoia Sugar all seek to collect maximum points in the round 29 fixtures.

Leaders Gor Mahia face Wazito at hostile Muhoroni Stadium in Kisumu while Tusker and Nzoia Sugar also have tough fixtures against Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards respectively.

While Wazito are fighting to avoid relegation, Gor are looking to reclaim the league title they lost to the brewers.

Gor lead the standings on 62 points with Tusker and Nzoia Sugar following on 58 points and 57 points respectively. Wazito on the other hand, are second last on 19 points.

K'Ogalo will have to dig deep in Muhoroni, a venue that has proven to be a tough hunting ground for most visiting teams.

AFC Leopards and Bandari are among the teams that have launched complaints to FKF over alleged intimidation, poor officiating and hostility.

However, history favours Gor as Wazito have never beaten the 19-time champions since they were promoted to the topflight league in the 2018 season.

In their eight meetings, the best results Wazito have gotten is a 0-0 draw in June 2021. Gor has won seven matches including a 4-0 victory in the first leg played in February.

At Ruaraka Grounds that will host a double-header, champions Tusker also have an uphill task against resurgent Kakamega Homeboyz who are currently enjoying a four-game unbeaten run.

The brewers played out to a barren draw against Nairobi City Stars on Wednesday, a result which slowed down their title charge and allowed Gor to open a four-point gap at the top.

Despite the stumble, Tusker coach Robert Matano believes they are still in the title race and if they carry out their game plan they will emerge victorious not only in today's match but at the end of the season.

"We are still in the title race but now have to fight and bounce back. We need the mentality and strength to fight for this game," said Matano.

The first match will see KCB play Posta Rangers from 1pm.

At Nyayo, AFC Leopards who received a major boost after the FKF Competition Appeals Committee allowed back their fans to the stadium will host the high-flying Nzoia Sugar.

Nzoia has not lost to Ingwe in their last four encounters including the first leg clash that ended in a draw at Sudi Stadium.

Other matches will see relegation fighting Mathare United play Bidco United, Sofapaka face Kariobangi Sharks and Ulinzi Stars welcome Nairobi City Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
