The national women’s volleyball team Malkia Strikers will be seeking to bounce back to winning ways when they play Democratic Republic of Congo today (Monday) from 1 pm East African Time in the ongoing African Nations Championship in Kigali, Rwanda.
Kenya had a poor start at the 2021 African volleyball event after going down to rivals Cameroon 3-0 (25-20,25-21,25-19) at the Kigali Arena on Sunday.
Kenya’s Sharon Chepchumba finished the match as Kenya’s best scorer with 13 points but Malkia will need to up their tempo against DRC if they are to progress further at the competition.
DRC thrashed Burundi 3-0 (18-25, 15-25, 13-25) to joint led Group B alongside Cameroon all with three points.
Malkia will be heading to their second match knowing qualification to next year’s World Championships to be hosted in Poland and Netherlands is at stake.
