When LeBron James started the Wednesday night game against Denver Nuggets, there was no hype on social media and there was too little pre-match build up about the record he was about to break.
This was probably due to his rough start to life in Los Angeles with the LA Lakers. The former Cleveland Cavaliers star’s first season with the Lakers has been disappointing but rewriting NBA history by surpassing Michael Jordan carries more weight than just winning and losing.
James started the match against Denver Nuggets needing to score 13 points to break his idol’s record and break into the top four on the all-time scorers' list.
It took him One quarter, five minutes and 38 seconds to get to the 14 points for the game and 32,294 points for his career so far.
The Lakers’ star scored 31 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the game bringing his career tally up to 32,311.

LeBron James nabs another NBA milestone with triple-double in Lakers win
The former NBA title winner with Cleveland Cavaliers has had to endure much criticism for the Lakers’ setbacks in a difficult first season at Lakers. Despite the criticism, the star was able to acknowledge the impending achievement on social media prior to the Nuggets game. He also discussed it with news reporters earlier in the day.
“I take all accomplishments as they come, any time I’m in the breath with any other greats and obviously M.J. being the guy that I looked up to my whole life, the guy I admired as a kid I think it’s going to be pretty cool.” Said the jubilant James.
Many fans have questioned James’ decision to move to a franchise that has been struggling in recent times but the former Cavaliers’ star thinks differently.
“I haven’t really appreciated anything I’ve been able to accomplish because I’m so engulfed in what’s next, How I can continue to get better; how I can help this franchise get back to where it needs to be.” Said the Lakers’ star.
James will now focus on helping his franchise make it to this year’s playoffs.
