The outgoing Cabinet Secretary for Sports Culture and Heritage Rashid Echesa on Tuesday handed over the mantle of leadership to the new appointee Amina Mohamed.
In a low key event at the ministry's headquarter at Kencom House, Echesa thanked President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto for according him the chance to serve Kenyans.
"I once again Thank President Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto for considering me amongst 50 million Kenyans to serve my country in the capacity of a CS. I wish Ambassador Amina Mohamed all the best in her new role" read part of the tweet.
Amina who has now taken her new role faces a number daunting task at the ministry marred with chronic corruption allegations. Among the key task that she will have to brace herself for including African Cup of Nations, World Cross Country Championship set for Denmark, World Championship(Qatar) and All African Games lined up for Morocco.
During his time as a Cabinet Secretary, Echesa was embroiled in a number of political controversies with NASA leaders and Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, an act that political pundits argue, marked the beginning of his downfall. At one time he accused Raila of pushing for his sacking

The changes in the cabinet occurred on Friday 1, 2019 through a presidential order which saw Echesa fired and several principal secretaries reshuffled.
