Impala rugby player Richard Akoth alias Real Jadhah died on Monday morning after he drowned while swimming at the club's swimming pool.
Akoth was Impala’s fullback and a key player in both the fifteens and the sevens version of the game.
His last game was on February 23 when Impala lost to Homeboyz 18-11 in the Eric Shirley Shield (ESS).
On October 1, 2011, JKUAT Cougars lost their Captain James “Dibo” Nyongesa in a similar way after he drowned in a swimming pool in Mombasa during the Driftwood Sevens tournament.
Richard Akoth’s death is a huge blow to the rugby fraternity.
