Reigning Kenya Cup champions KCB will be keen to continue their winning ways when they make a short trip to Kenyatta University to play Blak Blad.
KCB launched their title defence with a hard-earned 18-10 win over a new-looking Homeboyz side last weekend when the 2021-2022 Kenya Cup season kicked off.
The win left the bankers sixth in the log with four points after missing out on the bonus point win (win by more than four tries) but captain Curtis Lilako is more confident they will use that win as a stepping stone to continue with their perfect start.
Speaking to Standard Sports, Lilako said they are ready for Blak Blad after working on some of their mistakes in the opening match.

“It was a tough opening match against Homeboyz, but we showed our experience by winning the game and now it is time to go all out against Blad.
“We respect them of course, but we are going to do everything to win,” said the five-time Kenya Cup champion.
The Kenyatta University students opened the new season with a loss as they found the going tough in 49-3 defeat by Kabras Sugar last weekend in Kakamega and a win against champions KCB is more unlikely.
In Kakamega, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) RFC will play host to wounded Homeboyz who went down to KCB.
Opening their account with a thrilling 24-15 comeback win against Nondies last weekend, MMUST will be seeking to make it two wins in a row.
“It was a big win for us. It was a statement win that says don’t rule us out. We have a good team here made up of young and passionate players and as they continue to gain experience I believe we will see results week in week out,” said assistant coach John Asila.
Elsewhere, Impala Club is set to host a doubleheader as the season enters the second week.
Mwamba tackle Strathmore Leos in the early kick-off match before Impala Saracens and Menengai Oilers clash at 3pm.
Nondies are set to host Kenya Harlequin at Racecourse as last year’s runners up Kabras Sugar RFC travel to the Rift Valley to play against Nakuru RFC.
Kabras lead the standings with five points after round one same as Strathmore Leos, Quins and Oilers.
