A post-mortem report has revealed that the two youth killed in Naivasha during Saba Saba protest died of gunshot wounds to the stomach.

The Government pathologist, Dr Titus Ngulungu said the duo, one of them a 19-year-old student, had their internal organs ruptured.

Last week, three protesters, Peter Njenga, 23, Antony Kariuki, 19, and James Nayo, 37, died after they were shot by police.

During the post-mortem conducted at Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary, two bullets were recovered from the first two victims and handed over to IPOA as part of their investigations.

The post-mortem report indicated that the bullets ruptured some organs, leading to internal bleeding and death.

This came as the first victim, Njenga, who worked in one of the supermarkets, was laid to rest in the family’s home in Maella in an emotional ceremony marked by heavy security presence.

His mother, Tabitha Wanjiku demanded for justice, terming the death a big blow to the family as Njenga had two young children and was the sole breadwinner.

“All that I am asking for is justice for my son and I hope that no other parent will undergo the pain that we are currently going through,” she said.

Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, who attended the burial, said the buck stops with the President over police brutality.

Kihara said ever since Kenya Kwanza government took power, the country has continued to record increased cases of enforced disappearance and killings by the police.

“The President has at no time come out to console those families that have lost their kin during the Gen-Z demonstrations and that sums up the kind of the person he is,” she said.

At the same time, she said she would not be intimidated by DCI summons to record a statement for alleged incitement.

“The government is using all manner of threats to intimidate us but we shall not be cowed and shall stand for the truth,” she said.

Naivasha East MCA Stanley Karanja faulted President William Ruto over the shoot order.

“The same people that the President wants shot on the legs as the same people who voted him into office on promise that he would empower them,” he said.
