BARINGO: KANU National Chairman Gideon Moi has criticized the jubilee government for unfair dismissal of high-level government officials from Rift Valley.

Gideon, who speaking in Eldama Ravine town, cited the recent removal of David Kimaiyo as the Board chair Kenya Airport Authority (KAA), Kagogo Yatich who was acting Managing Director KAA among others.

"Let's us protect our people in national government and civil service. We have seen Kimaiyo unfortunately removed, Yatich is also out. When we have our people in government it is an asset for the community," the Baringo Senator said.

Gideon who also called for unity in Rift Valley asked leaders from the region to pressurise government not to remove the people from the high-level jobs.

"While we are in government we have to tell the government to stop the removal our people," he added.

Gideon further called on the government to deliver on its promises for the region while dismissing leaders who have been telling the region to wait for 2022.

"When we raise issues affecting the region we are told to wait for 2022. We want the fruits now not 2022. We want roads, health, and youth employment," he added amidst cheers from locals.

He maintained that KANU was in Jubilee coalition with other parties and will chart its own course after the end of the current term.

The Baringo Senator was speaking while handing over a Sh6.6 million cheque for the purchase of land in Kaptana, Eldama Ravine for the construction of a Sh200 million milk processing plant.

He called on farmers' cooperative societies in Baringo County to join hands with County government to raise funds to ensure the project is completed.

"All leaders from the county should help us complete this milking processing plant which will benefit all farmers. I urge all cooperative societies to also contribute so that they can be shareholders. This project will uplift economy and livelihoods," he added.

Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi who was also at the function said the county government will contribute Sh20 million towards the project which will boost milk production in the county.

"We have want to help farmers increase milk production. The production of milk in the county has increased to 50,000 litres thanks to the Artificial Insemination programs, production of feeds," Cheboi said.

He said the milk processing plant will ensure higher prices for milk produced in the country and uplift livelihoods of farmers who rely on dairy farming.

"We want to do value addition for milk produced in the county. We are grateful for the partnership with our senator," he added.

The function was also attended by Eldama Ravine MP Moses Lessonet, Barinog Deputy Governor Mathew Tuitoek, Baringo Speaker William Kamket and Members of County Assembly.
