The National Sevens Circuit has become one of the biggest "seasonal" showbiz attractions. It’s not always about the ball game but the glamour and entertainment that it brings.

So come last Saturday, all roads lead to Nakuru where the Prinsloo tournament was taking place. Hundreds of fans had left Nairobi on Friday for the tournament. In fact, by the time Kenya Harlequins was playing the final game with Strathmore University, the fans were still streaming in. And they were doing so in style. The last among them landed in a chopper and stole the show.

The previous night had been a buzz of activities all over the town with hotels and entertainment venues registering capacity bookings.

Ogopa rocks Nakuru

But the highlight of the weekend was the Revolution Party, hosted at Dimples Discotheque by Ogopa Deejays and co-sponsored by Pulse Magazine, Limos R Us, Mash Auto and organised by Flame Entertainment.

The convoy of celebrities, leading deejays and paparazzi snarled out of Nairobi on Saturday morning, making several stops on the way to meet their fans.

The Historians were here to prove that their comeback is not just a fluke. Marya, Mustapha’s singing beau was returning to Nakuru after a successful concert a few months ago. Jaguar, Avril, Kenzo and AY were here to prove the latest supremacy in the showbiz industry. And of course, Mustapha was here not only to support his beau but to do his thing too. And the fans came in droves — to meet their icons.

Hosted by John Kitlit, the concert started on top gear shortly after 10pm till morning. There was no slowing down.

Historians are known for their energetic stage presence. They opened the stage with their popular track, Hepi which the enthusiastic fans responded with wild screams and dance. Hey DJ, Bidii and Bouje literally sent the crowd into frenzy.

And there was even more cheers when Marya, dressed in a fancy top and shorts jumped to the stage with her boyfriend Mustapha joining her. Marya impressed with hit songs Mahaba and Hey Baby featuring Mustapha.

Mustapha continued thrilling the crowd with Ogopa Anthem, Mfupi, Adhiambo C and Mtaani Dot Com. Next was Jaguar and backed-up by Lugz, whom did not disappoint. The fans even sang along as he belted his track, Nimetoka Mbali, Nikusikize and Tayari singles.

Avril proved quite a thrill even as AY joined her on stage for their Leo remix before AY brought the roof down his hit Habari Ndio Hiyo.

The concert had been attended by a number of other celebrities among them P Unit.
