A Mukurwe-ini court has upheld the election of Erastus Muriuki as Ruguru ward representative in a by-election held early this year.
Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi dismissed all claims put forth by three petitioners, James Kiberenge, Kennedy Githungo and Roy Owiti, who had cited bribery of voters, improper influence of the results, intimidation of voters and conducting campaigns against the scheduled period as ground to nullify the April 18 mini-poll.
Mr Ochoi ordered the petitioners to pay Sh300,000 to the Returning Officer and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, and another Sh300,000 to Mr Muriuki.
