Jubilee leaders in Kajiado County want to choose their gubernatorial candidate through consensus.

Four aspirants eyeing the seat declared they would not hold primaries to choose the Jubilee flag bearer to oust Governor David Nkedianye in 2017.

The aspirants, led by Kenya Meat Commission Chairman Tarayia ole Kores, launched a unity pact in Kitengela at the weekend and vowed to back the candidate picked by consensus.

The other aspirants who endorsed the pact were Daniel Nina, George King'ori and Simon Meeli.

"We will not accept to be divided. Those aspirants who want to work alone should know they won't go far," said Mr Kores in reference to the boycott by former Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku.

More than 20 MCAs led by Ongata Rongai Ward Representative Mwathi Pere attended the meeting and supported the unity bid.

Local MPs skipped the meeting save for Woman Representative Mary Seneta who addressed the forum.

It's believed that most MPs are supporting different candidates with Kajiado West legislator Moses ole Sakuda and his Kajiado South counterpart Katoo ole Metito said to be behind Mr Lenku.

Mr King'ori insisted that all communities in the county must be incorporated into the next Government saying the current administration had adopted a divisive approach.

Recently, Lenku appealed to Jubilee Party leaders to unite in order to win all the seats in Kajiado next year.

He said failure to unite would see the Opposition clinch all the positions.

"I'm trying to reach out to every leader in this county so that we work together and strengthen our party so that when elections are called next year, we will be able to capture all the positions as happened during the last General Election," said Lenku.

Lenku further appealed to leaders not to repeat the mistake they made in 2012 where their candidate's name was removed from the ballot paper at the last minute for lack of academic papers.

All seats were captured by Jubilee, except the gubernatorial position which was won by ODM's Nkedianye.
