Raila daughter tells youths to get IDs

Kibra residents have been called upon to register in large numbers for identification cards (IDs).

Making the appeal, Rosemary Odinga, daughter of CORD leader Raila, told the residents that it was their constitutional right to have the important document.

Speaking at the Kamukunji grounds over the weekend, Ms Odinga said she had agreed with the Registration of Persons office in Langata and Kibra constituencies to encourage youths to register for IDs.

"Even if you don't have your birth certificate but you have your parents IDs and a letter from the chief, you will be able to get an identification card. They will come to you on Tuesdays and Wednesdays thereafter, we will even conduct a door-to-door campaign," she said.

She said lack of IDs had locked many youths out of employment opportunities and access to financial aid like the Uwezo Fund. she said Kibra was just the start of the campaign.
