A medical officer working at a mission hospital in Kisumu accused of defiling an eight-year-old minor has committed suicide.
The body of Bonface Mongare was found dangling from a rope in his house by his colleagues after he failed to report to work.
The 28-year-old man who had worked at the Bar Korwa Mission Hospital for the last four months raised eyebrows among his colleagues when he absconded duty.
When his colleagues visited his house, they found the door locked from inside and a peep through one of the windows unearthed his lifeless body hanging on a roof.
According to acting North Central Seme chief George Ochieng, the deceased left behind a suicide note indicating the predicaments he was facing in court.

He had written two letters on the same piece of paper on two different dates with one dated February 13 while the other was dated Wednesday February 18.
“A note was found next to his body with the deceased claiming that he was not ready to go to jail as a result of the defilement case,” said the administrator.
The body has been transferred to Port Florence Hospital Mortuary.
