Kisii County government's search for a piece of land to put up a waste disposal and management centre has ended up in court.
The county's Lands department has been trying to acquire a 21-acre parcel of land at Nyatieko. However, some residents moved to court, saying the county government took their land without involving them.
But County Lands Registrar Stephen Mokaya said his office had done a detailed report to the court on the status of the disputed land.
Mokaya said parcel 557, which the residents claim to be theirs, does not exist and is part of the 21-acre parcel 558 that the county acquired.
The county administration has been trying unsuccessfully since 2015 to acquire land to relocate the dumpsite in Kisii town, with some residents opposing the move.
