HOMA BAY: Police in Ndhiwa constituency have been accused of soliciting for bribes before attending to victims of rape and sexual assault.
The residents, who held demonstrations in Ndhiwa town, also accused health practitioners from the sub-county hospital of demanding Sh1,000 bribe from those who require P3 Forms when they are assaulted.
They were led by Action Aid, Paralegal Network and the County Education Network. They said the situation was denying the residents their constitutional rights.
But Ndhiwa OCPD Nixon Makokha and the Medical Officer in charge of Health (MOH) Thadius Ondijo denied the allegations saying no complaints had been raised in their offices. "I cannot rule out the allegations but the locals have not reported to us," said Mr Ondijo.
