HOMA BAY COUNTY: Residents of Suba District have paralysed revenue collection at Sindo Market and its environs for the last three days for allegedly being denied to access government institutions.
The residents who comprised Kaksingri Council of Elders and the business community from Central Division in Suba District denied officials of Homa Bay County an opportunity to collect revenue from Sindo, which is one of the markets that generates a lot of revenue, and other small markets in the area.
Led by Sindo Traders Union chairman John Kisiara, the residents held a demonstration, protesting what they termed as plans to relocate Suba District Hospital from Sindo town to Magunga.
They are also opposed to another plan to relocate offices of the Suba sub-county administrator from Gingo to Magunga. The demonstrators accused Suba MP John Mbadi of allegedly being behind the relocations.
“Removal of these institutions is unwarranted. These plans are motivated by our MP who is against development of the people from this area,” said Peter Ogada, Vice Chairman of Kaksingri Council of Elders.
