Nairobi, Kenya: A form two girl at the St Georges Girls School in Kilimani area, Nairobi drowned Wednesday evening as she and her colleagues had swimming sessions.
Police say the 15-year-old girl identified as Yvonne Narocho was in the company of about 20 other girls and were swimming at their pool in the school when she drowned.
Kilimani police boss Peter Katam said they have launched investigations into the drowning incident.
“The girl was rushed to Nairobi Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. It is unfortunate but we are investigating how the incident happened,” said Katam.

He said they want to find out if there was a swimming guide and if she wore a lifeguard as per the law.
There was a sombre mood at the school as the fraternity came to terms with the death.
