Kenya: The High Court has ordered the government to pay Sh35 million to eight Kenyans and three foreigners for torture on accusations of being terror suspects.
Lady Justice Mumbi Ngugi awarded between Sh3.5 million and 4 million for unlawful deportation and torture.
The eight Kenyans were the subject of conflict between the Kenyan government and human rights activists over unexplained deportation to Ethiopia in 2011 where they were tortured in cells.
The others are two Tanzanians and a Rwandese.

They sued the State through lawyer Mbugua Muriithi for violation of constitutional rights. Justice Ngugi upheld claims of torture saying the acts were unacceptable.
