NYERI: A cloud of uncertainty is hanging over county employees as Governor Wahome Gakuru starts to form his government.
A number of contracted employees stand to lose their jobs as the new governor restructures the county administration to meet his agenda.
Already, there are reports that at least 20 staff have been relieved of their duties, a claim County Public Service Board secretary Antony Ndonga has dismissed.
"No one has been fired. Only the former governor's personal political appointees will lose their jobs," said Mr Ndonga on Wednesday.
However, when asked how many employees would be affected, Human Resource Director Mathew Mburu declined to comment and said his role was limited to effecting the decision of the board.
