Three officials of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (Kuppet) in Bungoma County were yesterday arraigned in Webuye and charged with storming and disrupting learning in different schools.
The officials allegedly forced their colleagues to join them in the ongoing strike.
Kuppet County Executive Secretary Augustine Luketelo, Chairman Denson Barasa and the union driver Franklin Simiyu appeared before Chief Magistrate William Chepseba.
Cash bail
The charge sheet read that on January 8 this year, the trio visited three schools namely Ndivisi, Namawanga and St Cecilia Misikhu Girls secondary schools where they harassed and threatened teachers found teaching during the ongoing strike.

"They were armed with crude weapons including slashers, sticks and nyaunyos and they harassed and threatened teachers who didn't stand in solidarity with them during the ongoing strike and thus disrupting peace in the schools," read the charge sheet.
The court granted the accused a Sh100,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh20,000 each.
Hearing is set for March 25, 2015 while mentioning of the case is on January 27, 2015.
