The first ever national under-13 tournament goes down this weekend in Nakuru.
At the end of the tournament, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will pick a team to take part in an international junior tournament in Southampton in August.
According to FKF President Nick Mwendwa, the venture will expose players to higher standards of the game.
“It is our belief that this venture will not only provide the much needed platform to expose our young players to international football but will also aid in their development and the long term success of the sport,” he said.
He said being the first time to carry out such an initiative it has made it possible for them to create player passports.
