Manchester United will target Blaise Matuidi if the Paul Pogba deal falls through, reports the Manchester Evening News.
However, United are confident that they will complete the Pogba deal before the Community Shield and have him in their squad for the new season.
But frustrated manager Jose Mourinho is getting impatient and could soon give a deadline for the negotiations to be completed.
It means United would then turn to their No.2 midfield option in Matuidi, who is expected to be allowed to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
