President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated Kenya's commitment to participating in peace missions in the region, especially in combating acts and groups of terrorists.
Uhuru spoke when he presided over the commissioning parade for 136 General Service Officer cadets at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru County.
The President was accompanied by Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo, Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe, Service Commanders, among other top-ranking military officials. Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui was also present.
The President said that Kenyan troops would continue being part of the peace keeping mission in Somalia (Amisom) until a time the objective of the mission is achieved.
"We remain steadfast in bringing peace in our region. Our troops will continue being part of Amisom until our objective is achieved. Our fight against terrorism will continue so as to secure our borders from any external threats," said President Uhuru.
