At least nine African heads of state made way into the Kasarani sports complex to witness the inauguration of President – elect Uhuru Kenyatta.
The heads of state among them Presidents Ian Khama (Botswana), Salva Kiir (South Sudan) and Paul Kagame (Rwanda) were at Kasarani for the historic swearing in ceremony of President Kenyatta.
Other heads of state in attendance of the highly guarded ceremony include Zambia President Edgar Lungu, Djibouti President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, Hage Geingob (Namibia), Presidents Ali Bongo (Gabon) Mohamed Abdullahi (Somali) and Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni.
Tanzania’s John Magufuli who had earlier confirmed attendance sent an apology through his twitter account saying he would not make it due to unavoidable circumstances but wished both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy well, as they forge a meaningful relationship with the neighbouring country.
