Police in Nyahururu have arrested one of the most sought after woman believed to be behind the sale and supply of illegal brews in the area.
The woman, who is in her 50s, has evaded police dragnet for the last three months and was arrested yesterday at her Kirima farm.
During the operation led by Nyahururu District Administration Police Commandant Daniel Masaba, Mutitu Chief Eston Maina and his Kiamaina counterpart Joseph Waithaka, they recovered over 600 liters of illicit brews hidden in the farm.
Among the brews were Chang'aa and Kang'ara, which were ready for sale.
According to Masaba, the suspect is believed to be one of the main suppliers of the brews to Kiamaina and Manguo slums, among other areas. He said they arrested her after being tipped off by residents. "The residents were disappointed that she continued selling the drinks, daring them to report her to the police," he said.
