Five suspected thugs were on Tuesday night shot dead by police in botched carjacking incidents in Nairobi.
Police said the men had tried to carjack buses along Ngong Road in two separate incidents.
Two pistols with six bullets, six mobile phones, gold rings and other valuables were recovered from the suspects.
According to Nairobi County Commandant Benson Kibue, three suspects were killed along Cemetery Road near Kibera slums as they tried to escape. Two others were felled at Dagoretti Corner after they tried to commandeer another bus.
The Citi Hoppa buses had picked passengers up in the city centre and were headed for Ngong when the attempted carjackings and shooting happened.
The killing of the suspects brings to six the number of suspected thugs killed on Tuesday alone. Police had earlier felled another suspect who was riding a motorbike in Ngara after a dramatic chase.
The suspect was linked to a robbery along Juja Road.
Elsewhere, police are looking for a gang that carjacked a matatu and robbed passengers of their valuables around Museum Hill in Nairobi.
