Located on New Likoni Road and about 700 metres off Mombasa Road is Diamond Park Two estate; a modern housing development in the serene middle class suburb of South B in Nairobi.

Its strategic location is a plus for city dwellers who can access the estate through Mombasa Road and Enterprise Road. The project comes hot on the heels of Diamond Park One, a stone’s throw away, which is already occupied.

It sits on 30 acres, and is being developed by Regnol Oil K Ltd. The project consists of 318 four-bedroom maisonettes with servant quarters in a gated community. The units go for Sh14 million.

Design

According to the project’s director Rashid Ahmed, the design is Asian and modern, offering comfortable and affordable living.

Each unit has a garden and parking area for two cars. The ground floor is tiled and boasts a spacious living room, which also doubles as a dining area.

Ground floor walls are painted cream white whereas the ceiling is painted white and orange. It also has a store under the stairs, one self-contained guest room with in-built wardrobes, cloakroom, bathtub, wash closet and shower. On the other side is a fully fitted kitchen with ceramic worktops and three upper and four lower cabinets, sink and tiled kitchen walls.

The kitchen area opens into a laundry area and a self-contained servant quarter. The first floor has a family meeting or study room, which can also be used as a TV room and two other rooms one — spacious enough to accommodate twin beds with in-built wardrobes, wash closet and shower in each of the two rooms. The master ensuite bedroom is spacious and has a balcony. The upper rooms have extra wooden ceilings, wardrobes, cloakroom, bathtub and sink.

The estate has cabro-paved driveways, streetlights, perimeter wall and electric fence. A community centre and shopping mall are to be constructed soon. Guards man the gates round-the-clock.

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company provide water. Social amenities exist in the estate and outside, including a semi-permanent mosque inside the estate. For Christians, Winners Chapel is only a few metres away, while shopping can be done at Hazina’s Naivas Supermarket or the nearby Capital Centre.

Other nearby amenities include Mater and St James Hospitals. The estate hosts Wamy high and primary Schools, and Our Lady of Mercy School is a short distance away. Traffic has become a major challenge in Nairobi and many city dwellers are, therefore, moving to live closer to where they work.

Convenience

Many of them are looking for convenience and also to save on fare and fuel. However, there is hardly land remaining to develop in estates closer to the city.

But in South B towards Airtel headquarters, there is still some land available and many estates, including Reliance Homes, Bank Villa, Balozi and Executive, have come up along New Likoni Road. The new Southern Bypass, under construction, will be an added advantage to the residents of the area since New Likoni Road links the estate to Mombasa Road through the bypass.
