Moyes says Januzaj becoming a scapegoat for Sunderland's poor form

David Moyes knows Adnan Januzaj has the ability to be Sunderland’s saviour but the youngster is becoming more of a scapegoat.

The on-loan Manchester United ace was given a start in his preferred position in the hole behind Jermain Defoe at The Hawthorns.

But the Belgium international was subbed after 66 minutes as he trudged off to boos from angry away fans after an anonymous display.

It was impossible to recognise Januzaj from the gifted teenager who broke through at Old Trafford in 2013 to widespread acclaim.

He was later given Ryan Giggs’ legendary No.11 shirt and had England, Belgium, Albania and Kosovo all clamouring for his international services.

Moyes knows his potential better than anyone after handing Januzaj his United debut.

Yet the youngster has not scored this term and has just one assist as the bottom club’s struggles have seemingly sucked the life out of the kid.
