Tusker FC head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbie has blamed the ‘Hull city’ break as the main reason why the defending champions have mixed results.

Speaking in Nairobi on Friday at the team’s training grounds in Ruaraka, Nsimbe remains optimistic and only calls this ‘a challenge’ after losing to a last minute stunner from skipper Jockins Atudo that led his team lose to a solitary goal in the 88th minute against surprise package Posta Rangers FC.

“In the world of football, it’s always ups and downs. I don’t think we are out yet as the league is open to at least four teams if not five. We now find ourselves in a tight position as we have to win the next three games to be back as title contenders.” Best said and added that he knows for a fact that Tusker cannot finish a season without a title.

English Premier League side Hull City FC beat SportPesa All Stars 2-1 in a friendly match played on Monday February 27, at the KCOM Stadium. The highly publicised match was organised by Kenya Premier League main sponsors. The experienced Kenyan stars lost to a Hull City team, which was majorly composed of players from the club’s U23s, U18s and U16s sides.

Nsimbe has also praised attacking midfielder Jackson Macharia and dubbed him ‘a midfield maestro’. Macharia who was acquired from Thika United FC last season, has been one of his key players in the creative department.

“He is one of Kenya’s finest in attack. Look for instance what he did during the tour to Spain as he featured in the Sportpesa All Star team, he is definitely one of the best in Kenya” Nsimbe praised Macharia.

Tusker FC now find themselves in a difficult fourth place with 29 points, same as Ulinzi Stars who have an advantage of goal difference hence take third place.

K’ogalo lead the log with 34 points, while Sammy Omollo’s Posta Rangers are second with 33points. The Ruaraka - based brewers will tomorrow Sunday 26th face a rejuvenated Western Stima FC.

Henry Omino's side feel motivated after beating a worried AFC Leopards 1-0 in Nairobi to finish the first leg on a high. They again met Ingwe to open their account of the second leg in Kisumu last week and tied 1-1 with the Robert Matano - led side.
