Finding bridal gowns for full figured women can be daunting but definitely possible. Generally, plus-size dresses focus on disguising the figure but a curvaceous body is something to celebrate, not hide.

You will want to find a dress that is best for your figure. An A-line shape, for example, is flattering to curvier figures as it can skim over hips. Avoid full ball gown skirts as they add an overall roundness. A V-neckline on a busty woman can add a beautiful contrasting line.

Alternatively, you are probably better of tailor-making your dress to be sure of the fittings you want. Here you will be able to adjust according to preference.

Don’t be afraid to break the rules. In the end, it is your wedding dress and you need to love it.

When fitting your dress, have the bra you are likely to wear on the wedding day. If it will be a padded one, then measure with it on to avoid loose or an uncomfortably tight bustier on that day.

When doing the fitting or getting the measurements taken, make sure you have eaten just to be sure of how wide you will expand and still be comfortable after eating on the wedding day.

For the hips, measure at your fullest. If you are one to loose weight under pressure then put your hips a size smaller because you will reduce weight, thanks to the pressures of the wedding preparations. You don’t want to have to reduce size last minute.

Avoid heavy gowns as they will only make you look heavier. Stick to middle weight fabrics. Very light fabrics on the other hand don’t sit firmly on the body hence could show your flaws.
