The Nakuru County Assembly has adopted a policy that will see fresh diploma and degree graduates absorbed as interns in the county government, with a Sh15,000 monthly stipend.
The Internship Policy was tabled in the House by Labour, Gender and Youth Committee chairperson Daniel Githengi and adopted yesterday.
“The interns will be paid the stipend by the National Industrial Training Institute (NITA). In the event that NITA fails to pay, the host department still pays the stipend of not less than Sh15,000,” Mr Githengi said.
He said five interns from each of the 55 wards would be engaged, creating opportunities for 275 youth every year.
