Kilimani Mums Uncensored, an online chama of 40,000 women known for their risque posts, this week saved a woman who was reportedly about to be killed by her husband. Rescue came her way following her post on the group’s Facebook page.

Speaking to The Nairobian, Elizabeth, said her hubby, Simon Muiruri came home drunk on June 12, at around 7pm. “I went to the loo outside our house and when I came back, I found my husband looking at the baby’s shoes which I had bought for Sh200,” she said.

He demanded to know where she got the cash to buy the shoes since she is jobless. “I told him I had been saving, but he claimed that I sleep with men and that is how I got the Sh200,” she narrated tearfully.

Her husband allegedly started beating her, demanding to know the names of the men she sleeps with.

“He was beating and screaming at me and asking how I can allow another man to buy his children shoes. He was strangling me and I knew I was going to die, but I was saved when his phone rang,” she said. Simon reportedly picked the phone and after a brief conversation with the caller he left the house. Terrified, Elizabeth said she locked the door and all the windows.

“He came back past 9pm and demanded to be let in. He was even more drunk. I refused to open the door and he started threatening me, saying, ‘Leo hapa kutamwagika damu (blood will be shed here today)’,” she continued.

Liz said that she then decided to update her predicament on Facebook, asking members of Kilimani Mums Uncensored for help.

Her husband reportedly came back with a jerrycan of petrol with the intention of setting the house on fire. Members of the online forum called cops who arrived at the scene and arrested Simon. He was later released as she hadn’t filled a P3 form.

A Kilimani Mum’s member , Adella Dela, took her in together with her eight-year-old son and four-month old daughter and has been hosting her for the past one week. Elizabeth is a graduate of Catholic University of Eastern Africa. “I am a teacher by profession but I am yet to get a job. I am grateful to the Facebook group, which gave me around Sh92,000. All I want is to start my life afresh with my kids,” she said.
