Over 30,000 families are facing starvation due to drought.
Pastoral communities are fleeing the region with their livestock in search of water and pasture.
The most affected parts are in Laikipia North where acute water shortage has been reported.
Some rivers have dried up and residents have to walk far in search of water.

Local leaders have called on the government to supply the area with relief food.
Laikipia North MP Sarah Lekorere, who spoke in Naibor, said children and the elderly were the most affected.
“We want the government to immediately supply the region with relief food to avert deaths,” said. Ms Lekorere.
Former National Assembly Speaker Francis ole Kaparo called for a permanent solution to the problem.
