A school in Nyandarua has been temporarily closed after 20 pupils tested positive for Covid-19.

County health executive John Mungai said that by Monday evening, eight pupils from Uhuru Primary School in Ol’Jororok Sub-County had tested positive for the virus.

“The number of positive cases rose to 20 on Wednesday. We are currently meeting some parents who visited the school after receiving the news. Everything is under control and they should not panic,” said Mungai.

Officers from the provincial administration and County education executive Ndung’u Wangenye visited the school. Dr Mungai said the pupils, who are in different grades, had sought medical attention at a local dispensary.

“Upon being subjected to an antigen test, eight pupils from the school tested positive of Covid-19 on Monday. The Ministry of Education resolved to close the school for some days,” said Mungai.

He further that 50 pupils from the school in Nyairoko had on Friday last week complained of diarrhoea and vomiting.
