A 19-year-old man on Wednesday hacked his lover to death at Katithini village in Kitui Central.
The suspect reportedly attacked his lover inside their house at about 1.30am.
Area sub-county police boss Sicily Gatiti said initial reports indicated that the couple was cohabiting.
Ms Gatiti said they found the body lying in a pool of blood on the couple’s bed.

She said the suspect had been arrested and the killer weapon seized.
The body was taken to Kitui Level Five Referral Hospital mortuary.
The police said investigation had been launched to establish the motive of the killing.
