MIGORI, KENYA: Nyanza Regional coordinator Wilson Njenga and 13 senior security officials yesterday survived a helicopter crash at Rapogi.
County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said none of the officers was injured in the evening accident. The officials, who were rescued and transferred to another helicopter, suffered shock.
The aircraft made an emergency landing at a private garden behind Rapogi Catholic Parish. The officers were overflying the region to monitor the elections.
Officers from Uriri police station and nearby polling centres rushed to the scene. Njenga sent an SMS thanking God that none of those on board was injured. "It was just an emergency landing," read the text.
