On Madaraka Day, K'Ogalo bagged its second trophy of the season, the Madaraka Cup, an easy win over Nyeri Combined.

We hope that this will open the floodgates for a season full of trophies for the team. How I wish we could also bag the SportPesa Super Cup football tournament in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

This would give us the chance to play English Premier League side Everton in July. The Kenyan Premier League has taken an international break and so the transfer window has opened.

Our scouts are busy looking for youngster(s) whom we can nurture as they provide cover - my sister Monica remembers that we have been nurturing them since 1968! We also require an established player who can bring something extra to the team.

My fellow fans and supporters of K'Ogalo, if you know of any good players, please contact the club CEO, Mr Aduda. Let us take this chance to strengthen our side. Similarly, players who might seem to be a surplus to the club should be given a chance to try their luck somewhere else.

We are still on top of the table, though with the same points as Tusker. Our mashemeji are now 12 points in the standings. Our last two matches ended in unexpected draws. In fact, we should have collected maximum points against Thika.

As I mentioned in an earlier article, any team that can make a comeback and grab a point from the jaws of defeat, the way K'Ogalo is doing, is one that exhibits title traits and I am happy we have consistently shown this characteristic.

Our game against Rangers was a sure cliffhanger - we rescued a point late in the game!

On sponsorship matters, last week MPs rejected the Treasury's proposal of 50 per cent tax on the gross revenue of betting firms.

This ends the uncertainty that had gripped betting firms and the football fraternity. The firms are currently the biggest sponsors of the Kenyan football league and several clubs continue to benefit from them.

Please let the firms continue to use the prevailing tax laws do even more for football.
