United fans ready for the match on Tuesday

The rescheduled match between Manchester United and Bournemouth on Tuesday, which saw fans vacate the Old Trafford on Sunday following a suspected bomb device at the stadium, has been estimated to be costly to the Reds.

A statement earlier from the club indicated that all the tickets will be refunded to the fans and there will be a free entry also by the fans.

“Season ticket holders (for their equivalent match ticket price), match ticket purchasers and match-day VIP purchasers will receive a refund.” Reads the statement.

However, this fails to look at the other side of the coin considering that the club is struggling in its quest to become the top valuable club in the world, after Forbe placed it three with $3.10bn (£2.03bn).

Sources privy indicate that the club is likely to spend £2.5 million ($2.83 million) on Tuesday to cater for their fans including VIP’s who were scared away on Sunday by a suspected bomb device.

League shackle

United were fighting for the top four position with City, which would have clinched them a ticket to the English Champions League title next season. But will this match add them value?

If Van Gaal men wins the match against Bournemouth, it will cost them 19 goals to replace Manchester city at the Champions League tick position. Therefore, what they only hope for is the Europa league ticket.

If Eddie Howe men win the match, it will translate to United entry to Europa at the third qualifying round stage, whose first leg begins on July 28 while second leg commence on August 22. This will put the Reds schedule at jeopardy bearing in mind that they will play against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City on July 22 and July 25 respectively.

However, a win for Bournemouth will guarantee them fourteenth position with £2.5 prize in the Premier league title.
