The move by Kanu supporters to block Deputy President William Ruto's motorcade temporarily in Kericho town on Saturday was primitive, uncivilised and uncalled for.
However, credit goes to the Deputy President who restrained Jubilee supporters from engaging in confrontational politics with their Kanu opponents.
What Kanu did in the Kericho incident is reminiscent of what happened during former President Moi's 24-year rule in Kenya.
This showed immaturity on the part of Kanu, as far as issues pertaining to campaigns and elections are concerned.
It is particularly saddening that the gains which have been made following the enactment of the Constitution are being eroded by the likes of Kanu, which intends to take the country to the dark days when blocking of venues and rallies was normal.
