Cabinet Secretary for Education Fred Matiang’i has instructed all university heads to ensure that a proper and quality examination is in place for those who shall have the minimum entry points to serve as a merit test for students joining university to take various courses. The strategy is meant to ensure students only undertake courses that they have passed during the test.

However, it may not be of much help since students have perfected the culture of cheating. Instead, they will devise new ways in an attempt to get entry to universities.

Cheating can only be managed by reviewing the 8-4-4 curriculum system. The new system should not be based on purely examinations and competitive nature. Instead the system should focus on instilling knowledge to learners and giving them the necessary information they need to apply practically in the society.

The Kenyan education system should instill moral values in students for them to know that knowledge is power and stealing or cheating in examinations in not an advantage.
